FRIDAY, APRIL 23rd, 2010 THE SPONTANEOUS VOICE OPEN MICChristianne's Lyceum of Art and Literature
What happens when we don’t have the chance to edit and rehearse? When we don’t know what is supposed to come next? We risk being really seen, with all our imperfections and a BRILLIANCE that we may not even know we possess! The result can be raw, zany, beautiful and very human. This is the heart of improvisation and it is the theme of the Spontaneous Voice Open Mic. Laurel Murphy will be hosting and improvising with her loopers and a group of talented singers ready to throw themselves into the void. There will be a variety of improv forms that many of you are familiar with and some of you will learn about. There will be spontaneous collaborations with instruments and spoken word depending on who shows up. We will also make room for some prepared pieces or songs just for variety, with a standing invitation to collaborate and try something new. Christianne’s Lyceum is the perfect place for this, with its warm, supportive and intimate atmosphere. Bring your friends and feel free to participate or just sit back and enjoy the evening’s offerings. We hope to see you! |
